Napoli Pizza - 9 Main Street
This downtown pizza shop sells thin crust New York Style Pizza. On the occasions that H2otown has eaten there, she's noted a thin but not crackerlike crust -- a bit thicker, for example, than Stella's Pizza -- and slightly salty but excellent sauce. They do not skimp on the cheese here.

Good pizza but even suprisingly good tuna salad, probably the best in the Square!
I've been going to Napoli's for years. Their pizza is delicious whether hot or cold. I reccommend the thick crust Sicilian pizza. In my opinion Napoli's has the best eggplant subs in the Boston area. If you haven't been to Napoli's you're missing out!
Napoli Pizza has maybe the best pizza I have had in Boston - it is delicious! I am from NY and very picky about pizza, and this place is great!
We've been on a search for good pizza. We went to the North End last week and found fabulous pizza at Ernesto's on Salem Street. But what about closer to home? Went to Napoli the other night and was impressed with the pizza and with the friendliness of the chefs. Warm place in every way. We will continue to search out and try all the options mentioned on this blog and other places.
I have always been a big fan of Napoli's but don't make it there much. In the west end Gerry's Italian Kitchen on Belmont St. next to Francis Food Mart is pretty good.
In the East End Stella's Pizza on Mt Auburn St. next to Sevan Bakery is very good. Thin crust.
If you want to venture to Newton, Sweet Tomatoes in Newton Center and W. Newton near the movie theater is very good too.
Hey Peg,
Ernesto's on Salem Street is just a few doors down from Dairy Fresh Candies, right? Many moons ago I worked in downtown Boston and we'd walk down to the North End for a slice of pizza at lunch ... the former owner of Ernesto's served up FABULOUS slices! I think it was Georgio's? Yes, I'm pretty sure it was Georgio's! All that walking around Boston at lunch time cancelled out the pizza-calories! (or maybe it was the fact that we were still "pre-forties"? ha... :)
Anywho ... here's to finding that PERFECT slice right here in H2Otown! I hear that the Upper Crust is opening up a shop on Main? Let's try that....
happy holidaze all!
Few people know it, but the original Pizzeria Regina, on Prince Avenue in the North End, is REALLY GREAT. Not associated with the chain, and the pizza is quite different. And fabulous.
And finish up with a cannoli at Cafe Vittoria.
This reminds me, we have to have the annual Best Pizza poll.
oh, right lisa it was GIORGIO's with an "i" not an "e"...thanks!! That was so so good, really "my" standard for pizza! Let's see if any in H2Otown can meet that challenge!
... you know, this past spring a bunch of us discovered a scrumptious cannoli on...hmmm where was it... northern ave? as you head towards north station along the new rose kennedy greenway? I'll check it out and post the name of the bakery.. really wonderful cannoli! not at all crowded like Mike's on Hanover Street ... the bakery even had an official cat!
question: who or where serves up the best CANNOLI in Watertown? :)
... yes, I love the original regina's too! (the original Uno's in Chicago is great as well)... but i can't help thinking of the harrassment suit by regina's employees --- check out: http://www.bostonmagazine.com/articles/spy_games/
... another thing ... Trader Joes sells a frozen pizza that is honest-to-goodness a match for local brick-oven fare! Try the 3-cheese brick oven version, and follow the cooking directions exactly. Not a bad pie for the price!
