We're very picky about our sushi; we've found few Boston sushi joints we'd go back to twice. We look for-
1.fish that is impeccably fresh and handled in a way that makes us confident of its safety
2. portions that are generous in relation to the prices
3. melt-in-your-mouth salmon
4. a pleasant dining atmosphere
Sushi 21 scores high in all categories. The fish is super-fresh, their spicy tuna is perfect, and the fish portions are very good for their quite reasonable prices. Add to that a friendly, welcoming staff, and a cozy, comfortable atmosphere, and we were Very pleasantly surprised. And heck, it's right here in town! Sure New Ginza's sushi is fabulous, but it lacks the reasonable prices and neighbourhood eatery atmosphere. We'll be going back to 21.
Thank you H2otown for this restaurant guide. Last night my husband and I went to Sushi 21 for the first time, on Woodsy's recommendation. We loved the place, the staff, and most of all, the food. Very fresh, melt-in-your-mouth sashimi for reasonable prices, and a friendly, easy-going atmosphere. Right in Watertown Square! What a gem.

A fantastic place to eat if you want good food and great servers. Sushi 21 offers a fantastic menu of traditional japanese cuisine as well as exotc tidbit specials ....Try the seafood soup
Here here! When we need to satisfy the family's sushi jones at a decent price, we take out from Porter Exchange, but when it's splurge time at birthday's etc. it's Sushi 21!
I called to order delivery and a manager told me that they now have a $30 minimum charge to pay with a credit card - big scam!!! First of all, MC and Visa do not allow business to impose a minimum fee for credit card use. Second of all, I've been going there for over a year now and have never heard this before - obviously the manager didn't think I was paying him enough and wanted to try and force me to spend more.
If anyone else gets scammed like this, report the business to your credit card company! MC has a form online athttp://www.mastercard.com/us/personal/en/contactus/merchantviolations.html

I can't agree with the good comments. They've misplaced crucial parts of my takeout orders way too many times.
