On the curb
22 Morse St., Watertown. Just off Galen St., near the Pike. Outside on the curb all day today, through about 1pm tomorrow when the trash truck usually comes:
big bag of natural wood charcoal, 1/2 full
big popcorn bowl
books, some really good, like the autobiography of Gandhi, Manifesta (signed), etc. Moving and this stuff has to go.
Living Space
Unfortunately, our lease is up and our roomates have decided not to continue on. The place is too big for two, but we are weary of roomates and wary of unknown quantities.
So, just to throw it out there, my dream apartment would be $1,200 or under, one or two bedrooms, laundry on site, dishwasher in kitchen. Just in case!
I'd love to stay on in Watertown and finally benefit from the new library! It should be fabulous...
Places to Study in and Around Watertown
Since I chose summertime to head back to academia and desert my nicely freezer-like airconditioned workplace, I am hunting up indoor and outdoor places to study and cool off this summer. Criteria: cool, free/cheap, open & available to all. Please add to my list!
Libraries
The benches down by the Charles
Malls, if it gets blistering
Starbucks
Doctors
Anyone have a smart, sensitive, female MD they'd like to recommend? Preferably takes Harvard Pilgrim and has an office somewhere near/in Watertown.
Running
Hi everyone,
I've decided to dust off my intentions to run a 5k; I'm starting from scratch again, so looked around for running clubs etc. in the area. Arlington has one, Cambridge has one, Somerville has two or three -- does anyone know of a running club here in Watertown?
Barring that, does anyone have suggestions on cheap gyms? I really just go for the treadmill, so I don't want to pay for a lot of frills.
Thanks!
Heating Oil Help
I feel badly keeping on posting frantic requests for newbie help, but you all are bringing it on yourselves by being so helpful.
Does anybody have cheap, prompt, friendly home heating oil companies that they would like to share? There's a chill in the air, and we need to choose a provider for our new Watertown abode.
Thanks for any leads!
Challah?
Looking for some Challah bread - does anyone have any leads on good Challah in the Watertown/Newton area? The loaves on the shelves at the local Stop & Shop look unappetizing, to say the least. I think they burned a batch.
Thanks!
Service Stations in Watertown: Your Experiences?
Does anyone have experiences with mechanics they can share? I had to drive my beater all the way to Allston, to the "Honda King," because of an ominous rattle. It made it very difficult to get to work that day. If anyone knows of good service stations on the 70 bus route in Watertown (the North Beacon Service station, perhaps? Or the little place right on route 20 on the way into Waltham?) or just over the line in Waltham, I'd be forever grateful. I work on Beaver St. in Waltham and Allston, while close, is just not doing it for me.
The Honda King is great, though, FYI; very nice, efficient, and did not (as far as I can tell) rip me off at all.
Thanks for any/all reviews! I would add that Direct Tire and Auto Service has not served me well; in the past they patched a tire that proceeded to blow out not 30 minutes later, smack dab on Storrow Drive, leaving me stranded and calling AAA. Not happy at all.
